What do the specialists say about naps, as a way of recharging our batteries.
Normally, the specialists recommend that adults avoid naps in order to ensure a good night’s sleep. But, if you had a bad night’s sleep, a nap may help you to recover. At times 20 minutes for a nap is enough for the body to recharge some energy.
Normally, our body has the tendency to lose energy during the start of the afternoon. It can therefore be more beneficial to take a nap at this time than avoiding to sleep until the night. After all, the great majority of mammals has a poly-phase sleep, which means that they sleep for short periods throughout the day. Taking a nap during the day is a norm in some countries.
Some studies explain that naps in the afternoon in persons that do not suffer from lack of sleep may lead to behavioural improvements and in moods, drowsiness and fatigue. The researchers consider that people that take a nap have a better performance in tasks with logical reasoning and response time. However, not all naps are the same. There are great variations, such as the time of day, the duration and the frequency of the naps.
The nap is a practice that has a very individual relevance, or rather, the nap can and should be recommended for some persons and be totally forbidden for others. The most relevant indication is the contribution it has to the total time of sleep in the full day. If a person sleeps less than their sleeping needs during the night they can replenish the time missing with a nap.
